Me? I am a high school dropout turned medical doctor. There is way more than that to my story but it usually gets people listening! I do hope it gives you a little idea of just how much I believe that growth and development are possible for anyone, including you!
My name is Jill Becker and here is a bit about who I am: As a teen, I dropped out of high school. Later, I got my GED, attended photography school, college, medical school and completed extensive training programs in women’s sexual health, transpersonal psychology and many artistic media. I like to think of myself as multifaceted as I am a doctor, I have a Masters’ Degree in Mental Health Counseling with a Concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy, I am a sexual-health educator, an artist, a former art gallery/studio owner and a mother. In fact, I was in the process of completing my OB/GYN residency when my daughter was born and so many more of my facets were revealed.
All of this life experience, education, and practical training mean that I’ve done a lot of work discovering Me. I am now excitedly moving forward to uncover even more of my own facets, including how joyful I feel when I use my unique qualifications to support another person in her personal or professional development. I am passionate about helping you to discover all of the wonder that makes you you!
I have loved what I’ve learned about the importance of art and the process of creating it, both as a bridge between people and as a powerful mode of communication. Art requires no words, but it can allow for the opening of dialogue. Art can speak for itself or it can speak for us. When I opened Indalo Gallery and Studio, part of my mission was to provide a space where people could express the creativity inside them in support of personal growth and development – although in some workshops, the most prized takeaway for many was the memory of all the shared laughter! Having fun is an essential element of discovering all that you are; It also helps to stay motivated and to keep moving forward.
As we work together, in a supportive environment, we will talk about whatever is important for you at that moment. Even if you have never seen a therapist before, that is okay; Let’s meet and see where it takes us.
I look forward to hearing from you.
